Skull cavern lvl 100

I usually run out of time when I'm in Skull Cavern; it always gets way too late and I start cutting it reaaaaal close each time. Does anyone have any strategies to get to lvl 100? I'm completely stumped. I use bombs, I wait until I have good luck, I use the food buffs, etc. But the farthest I got was maybe lvl 30.
