Wiki says there needs to be a structure within 30 cells ..., Jun 25, 2018 · Infestations will not spawn in rooms below -20C or so I believe, so if you cool your entire base down that much, or play on a very cold map, you can entirely prevent infestations from spawning where you don't want them to. I have constructed a few gates at entrances, you can see them at the western and northern cave entrances if you zoom in, but the infestations usually occur in the central parts of the caves., Without mods, you can just set the ideology to be an undergrounder one and under venerated animal set your preferred insects. Though it would not stop them from being hostile in infestations so that'd be tricky I'm sure. I have not messed with the new VE mod for ideology but if they add in something where insects won't be immediately aggressive ...
